Michael Logiovino

Originally a drummer in "the early years" and playing bass since age 15. Influenced heavily by progressive rock bands with instrumental as well as vocal qualities especially "YES" early on. Mike moved to Fayetteville, NC in 1978 at age 16 and met Jimmy Herring (Phil Lesh And Friends), (The Dead), (Jazz Is Dead), (Allman Brothers) and John Sutton. Together they played in various rock band situations until John left for a summer session at Berklee College of Music. Upon John's return and seeing what the influence of Jazz had on his playing the attention turned to artists such as Jeff Lorber, The Dixie Dregs, Return To Forever, Al DiMeola and other instrumental greats as well.

After attending the same course at Berklee the follwing year with Jimmy, "Paradox", a three piece instrumental fusion band with Mike, Jimmy & John was formed. Over the next 5 or so years Paradox rolled on in one form or another starting as three piece, then with the addition of a horn section, keys and an occasional guest guitarists and/or bassist. Paradox played in the Fayetteville and Wilmington, NC areas regularly in clubs and at college functions. After narrowing the group down to the original three piece, a keyboardist and second guitarist for a short time ultimately it ended up back to Mike, Jimmy & John only.

When the Paradox years came to an end Mike toured the eastern and midwestern United States with a Top 40 band playing mostly in the Marriott and Adams Mark hotel circuit. After settling in Massachusetts for eight years and playing mostly in the local club scene with Top 40 rock bands and getting into the Blues movement playing with "Dr. D's Love Palace", the move back to North Carolina was made.

Out of the music scene for about 2 years Mike moved to the southeastern coast of the state and began to meet up with alot of the best local talent in the area. This led to being introduced to Rob Marlowe who had Mr. Hyde established. Mike jumped at the opportunity when the band's original bassist left and "the rest is history" so to speak.

Mike's musical interests now are still mostly in the instrumental area with bands like The Rippingtons, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Spyro Gyra and always a die-hard fan of Yes, The Dixie Dregs, The Steve Morse Band, etc. also having a deep appreciation for good vocalists and vocal groups as well.

Recently given the incredible opportunity to play with Peter Banks, the original guitarist for Yes, Mike feels he's come "full circle" from his original influence to actually playing with a founding member of the group. This recording can be heard on the new "Ant Bee" CD due out soon.
